What the rains may bringRain.. it has such a wonderful sound, so soothing and peaceful, as I sat there beside the pool I started reminiscing, the bitter sweet memories came back to me as drops of water fell on me from the heavens.
I remembered the first day I met him, he was standing there in front of my house, wearing a white button down shirt and blue jeans and I could still remember that sweet little smile he gave me when he saw me. We went out to a small restaurant near my house that day and then we went for a walk on the beach. It was pretty sunny but as we walked the shore and the sun started to go down, it started raining, and he held my hand and he started to run, and I ran along with him. He kissed me right there in the rain and I can never forget that feeling, his soft lips against mine as the rain trickled down our face and the music of the rain playing softly in our ears.

much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
